About us

Lunchbox Stories, Inc. was created in 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Through our patented Chapter-Card™ design, we have developed a format that is inviting to readers of all ages and offers a variety of reading opportunities to kids.

Vision: That all children discover a love for reading

Everyone loves to listen to an exciting story but not everyone loves to read. We hope to introduce new and innovative ways to create the excitement for children to read on their own.

Mission: To encourage kids to read!

With adventures that have a "twist" at every "turn" we hope kids will see that Lunchbox Stories™ are more than just another book. Through our Imagination Hour and a variety of ways parents and teachers can use the unique Chapter-Card™ design, we are confident that more and more kids will find out how fun reading can be.

Brian Martin—Author

Brian is a long time corporate business manager who loves to read in his free time. He enjoys telling stories to his young children, Ashley and Taylor, and dreamed up the idea of Lunchbox Stories™ during a summer vacation road trip. With more stories in the works, he hopes to continue sharing his love of reading with kids of all ages. Brian and his wife Angel live with their two kids in Portland, Oregon.

Olivia Cole—Illustrator (The Eye of Xavier)

Olivia has loved to draw and paint since she could hold a pencil, and is nearing completion of her BA in Painting and Drawing at Portland State University. Exploring Portland's foodie scene and hiking Forest Park are her other favorite activities, as well as working as a barista at a local coffee house. She hopes to continue her artistic career as a gallery owner someday.

Evan May—Illustrator (Blizzard)

Evan decided to make his career in the Art and Animation Industry after growing up drawing and doodling while watching Nickelodeon, Looney Tunes and Disney movies. He graduated from the Art Institute of Portland with a bachelor of science degree in Media Arts and Animation and when he’s not working, he enjoys hiking in the Columbia River Gorge and Eastern Oregon. Evan is a native NW resident and lives in the Portland Metro Area.

Kim McDonald—Illustrator (The Gold of Angel Island, The Lost Ring, The Haunted Quest)

Kim has been in the insurance industry for over twenty years although she has always been an artist at heart. She is happiest when she is playing ball or working on a sketch and has been drawing as far back as she can remember. Kim is a mother of two and lives in Beaverton, Oregon with her husband Gary.
